Week 2

Chad's pain from his surgery is now going away. Chad is starting to cut down on his pain medication and hopes to be off the pain medications in a week. He is more confident with his pouching system and is going out more. Last Saturday Chad went to a movie and out to eat with his girl friend. Today Chad had a Cat Scan appointment to make sure everything is healing up OK. Day by day improvement is his goal.

great to here Chadd is doing better. I wish him all the best and will keep him in my prayers. Please keep us updated on how he feels. My brother has a consultation at Mayo in 2 weeks, we are not sure about the surgery yet, he is on high dose of Prednisone right now started at 60 and is down to 45 now....so it will be awhile before he is ready for any surgical procedure... remicade is our last try b4 surgery. was Chadd covered by insurance for his surgery at Mayo? My brother is from Canada and has no insurance in US... they told us it is gonna cost around 100K!!
Cheers,

Azi

Chad was on as high as 40 mg of prednisone and Remicade and never went into full remission. Chad is lucky that he has insurance. The bill so far for the first surgery and hospital charges is +/-$66,000.00.
Thank you for your payers.

Hello Chuck, just a question, was Chadd on Prednisone when he went for hte surgery? did he have bleeding? My brother is down to 50 and has started to bleed again, I would think he has to come off of the pills b4 surgery for healing process and all but it will take about 3 months of uncontrolled bleeding and all... I guess we just have to wait and see what they say at Mayo but thought maybe you could tell me what you guys did if he wasn't responding to pred. or Remicade ... how long was he on the Prednisoe? thanx in advance

Chad had stopped his prednisone two weeks before surgery. The Remicade was controling most of his bleeding, however he was still breeding. Chad did not like the side affects of the prednisone and the doctors told him he could not stay on the drug for extended periods of time.
